Electric String Quartet
Sahara is a unique string quartet based in London and Manchester. They are available to hire for exclusive events, private parties and corporate launches, traveling across the UK and Europe. With are fully customisable music service, why not choose between a traditional performance on acoustic instruments or their high impact show on electric violins.
Sahara is the first group of its kind within the classical crossover genre to combine saxophone with violins to create a unique female violin group with saxophone, rivaling the likes of Vanessa-Mae, Bond and Escala. The combination of electric string instruments and saxophone allows them to switch seamlessly between the classical repertoire of the traditional string quartet with the saxophonist doubling on flute, to the modern string quartet music of today.
As music has developed and the corporate event scene changes Sahara have also developed, with their own DJ Live show perfect for after parties! You couldn’t get more versatile than this talented bunch of female musicians.
Hire Our Electric String Quartet Show
Sahara is famous for its superb crossover take on famous classical music, tangos and pop music. It is the only female violin group of its kind performing a choreographed show with saxophone. Sahara have removed the electric cello from their show to allow more movement and tango style choreography that is not possible on the cello. The electric string show consists of two electric violins and saxophone. Light up LED electric violins are available on request.
The show will take you on a journey from the famous classical music of the Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor and Palladio (most recently made famous by the electric string quartet Escala as seen on Britain’s Got Talent) to finishing the show with their very own single Sahara Tango released on iTunes and their own pop string arrangement of Pharrell Williams’ Happy. The show can be tailored to you, including anything from a short opening show of 5 minutes, a cabaret show of 20 minutes or 45 minute headlining show.
A Tailored Experience – Soloists, String Trios, Trios & Saxophonists, Traditional Quartets
When hiring our quartet for events it is a popular choice to book their acoustic violin set before their electric string show as a more traditional performance of the string quartet. This allows for an element of surprise when switching to the high impact electric violins.
For a more traditional performance Sahara can be hired as a string trio or string trio with flute / saxophone. They perform a mix of their favourite classical music through to contemporary string quartet music. Sahara arrange all of their own music allowing the quartet to curate music especially for you. Whether it is for an exclusive concert, party or product launch. You can also commission Sahara to arrange music for a loved one or launch and record it for you. Some of the music they have already written and produced can be heard on iTunes.
Sahara’s acoustic option can be hired as a stand alone performance or alongside their electric violin performance or DJ Live show. It should be noted when hiring Sahara’s acoustic set before the electric show that Sahara’s show is a trio and the string quartet will involve the addition of the cello. For smaller events or events abroad we do recommend classical chill out backing tracks for the background music set which allows Sahara’s solo violinist to perform background music and the rest of Sahara join them later for a full quartet show.
