Our Marimba and percussion group form part of our elite concert series performers. Musicians Inc curate and programme events for venues across London and the UK. Musicians who are invited to join our concert series are selected from some of the most accomplished musicians in London. Selected for their high level of musicianship and ability to adapt to multiple audiences.
MARIMBA PERCUSSION GROUP – PARTIES & ENTERTAINMENT
This wonderfully talented percussion group are available to hire through Musician Inc. Since its formation in 2012, award-winning percussion group have been performing in Concert Halls, Arts Centres and Festivals. They provide an exciting repertoire from high energy marimba music to more ambient tones suitable for background music. The duo started working together whilst at South West Music School: a Centre of Advanced Training (CAT) and a music charity working with talented young instrumentalists, singers and composers in the area.
MARIMBA HISTORY
The simplest forms of the Marimba can be traced back to primitive men long ago. It was one of the earliest melodic instruments made by man and references suggest it was widespread throughout Asia and Africa. Though many countries claim it to have originated in their country there is no evidence to prove the exact location of its first arrival. Some believe that it had originated in Southeast Asia in the 14th Century and others that it came from Africa. The instrument was brought to South America in the early 16th Century by either African slaves or by pre-Columbian African contact.
FEATURED PERFORMANCES
As a duo they have performed at venues such as Dartington International Summer School, Bath International Festival of Music, and Wales Millennium Centre. They play and enjoy a wide variety of music including world, classical and contemporary, and relish the fact that percussion can encompass all these genres with ease. In December 2012, they won the Music in the Vale Ensemble prize in South Wales.
